Elect Peter Dahlen to the Third Ward

City Enterprises

Liquor Store & Hospital

The Northfield Hospital and Northfield Liquor Store are owned by the citizens of Northfield. City staff oversees Northfield Muni. The Hospital is overseen by a board which is separate and independent from the City Council.

Both enterprises currently have cloudy skies. The hospital is in a sea of choppy waters that is affecting all of healthcare. It is drawing down its reserves to pay for annual losses. Though the liquor store is not losing money, and thankfully it does not have any debt, it is facing stiff competition.

The liquor store has been the subject of many expensive consultant reports over the years. In addition, the city recently purchased two nearby buildings for one plan. That plan was to move the liquor store to the old Northfield News building, while the current store and next-door building would be razed and a new liquor store would be built. Those plans were scrapped after considerable outlay of taxpayers’ money. Government looks bad when it takes the first steps of a plan and then backtracks. Either it’s a plan worth implementing fully, or it’s a bad plan.

Peter Dahlen is well suited for the 3rd Ward Council seat.  He has the qualifications, the sensibilities, and he listens. His  decisions on issues will be made after good research and with thoughtfulness.
