One important reason I am running is that I believe that the mayor and city council must be open (share the facts) and responsive (answer citizens’ questions), and I am committed to making that happen.
Without that, democracy doesn’t really function. City Council members should not be rubber-stampers. They represent citizens. Citizens are entitled to all of the facts (not just the facts which support a policy choice) and answers from representatives.
My promise is to approach the office with intelligence, be data-driven, allow for a full airing of the pros and cons, and respect the views of others, especially those who have been frozen out of our democracy.
